Santa Clarita, Calif. – Today, the Southeast Antelope Valley Initiative endorsed Bryan Caforio for Congress in California’s 25th District. The Southeast Antelope Valley Initiative (SAVI) includes residents from Sun Village, Littlerock, Pearblossom, Llano, and the surrounding communities working to bring more responsive representation to the 25th Congressional District.
Bruce Love, on behalf of SAVI, said, “SAVI is excited to endorse Bryan Caforio for Congress. In addition to continuing his professional work as an advocate for the concerns of all persons, he stands for issues that are central to those we care about, including our special status as rural communities. He is the best candidate to defeat Steve Knight, flip the 25th, and take back the House of Representatives in 2018.”
“Our campaign is made possible by neighbors coming together to demand new leaders who will focus on our local community’s diverse set of needs instead of the special interests in Washington,” said Bryan Caforio. “I’m honored to have the support of SAVI and will continue to stand with them and everyone in our community every step of the way.”
Caforio counts endorsements from more than 25 elected and appointed officials in the District, including the Chair of the Ventura County Democratic Party. His campaign is also supported by the United Aerospace Workers Local 887, the International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron Workers Local 416 and Local 433, the United Association of Plumbers, Pipefitters and Welders Local 761, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 40, Sheet Metal Workers Local 105, and the United Steelworkers Local 675. Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom has endorsed the campaign, and Caforio is already tied with Rep. Steve Knight.
The son of two public school teachers, Caforio was born and raised in Southern California, attended UCLA and Yale Law School, worked for a United States federal judge, and practices as an attorney taking on some of the world’s biggest banks and corporations. Bryan lives in Santa Clarita with his wife Lisa, who serves as a Deputy City Attorney at the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office.
California’s 25th Congressional District covers northern Los Angeles County and part of Ventura County, including the Santa Clarita Valley, Antelope Valley, and Simi Valley. Hillary Clinton won the district by more than six points in 2016, registered Democrats outnumber registered Republicans, and the district is majority-minority. The district is now considered a “toss-up” and is held by Tea Party Republican Steve Knight, whom national Republicans have publicly identified as one of their most vulnerable incumbents.
