Ryan to Remind Knight of His “Binary Choice”
Santa Clarita, Calif. – Tomorrow morning, Speaker Paul Ryan will travel to the The Oaks Grille in Valencia to fundraise for Rep. Steve Knight. Speaker Ryan’s visit comes in the midst of allegations of sexual harassment against Dante Acosta, a former employee of Knight whom he has continued to support and endorse in a California Assembly seat race. Bryan Caforio, Democratic candidate for California’s 25th District, will be available to press immediately following the event at 9:00 AM.
In Speaker Ryan’s own words this election represents a binary choice. Rep. Knight confirmed that he agrees with Speaker Ryan, and also that he “will be voting.” Nonetheless, Rep. Knight has been “waffling” on his support for Donald Trump. Rep. Knight can try to pretend otherwise, but time and again he has shown that when faced with an important moral decision, Knight would rather take the easy way out. Both Speaker Ryan and Steve Knight have made it clear their choice for President is Donald Trump.
“Both Speaker Paul Ryan and Rep. Steve Knight are prime examples of representatives who have put politics over principles,” said Orrin Evans, Bryan Caforio’s Campaign Manager. “Speaker Ryan abandoned his commitment to a better way long ago, and Rep. Knight is no different. Throughout his campaign, Rep. Knight has shown a lack of moral clarity and a reluctance to stand up for what’s right, putting his party loyalty and political security first. From the very beginning, Bryan Caforio has stood up to Donald Trump, and Bryan’s conviction and fortitude make him the right person to represent the 25th District.”

Caforio was born and raised in Southern California by two public school teachers, attended UCLA and Yale Law School, worked for a United States federal judge, and practices as an attorney taking on some of the world’s biggest banks. Bryan lives in Santa Clarita with his wife Lisa, who serves as a Deputy City Attorney at the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office.
The 25th District covers northern Los Angeles County and part of Ventura County including the Antelope Valley, Palmdale, Lancaster, Santa Clarita, and Simi Valley. President Obama won the district in 2008, and experts consider this race a toss-up . Last year Democratic registration eclipsed Republican registration, and the district is now majority-minority. National Republicans list Congressman Knight as one of their most vulnerable incumbents.
