Two Leading Gun Safety Organizations Endorse Bryan Caforio
Brady Campaign, Americans for Responsible Solutions Endorse Caforio
Santa Clarita, Calif. – Today Bryan Caforio, congressional candidate for California’s 25th District, received the endorsement of two national gun violence prevention organizations: the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, including its 28 California Chapters, and Americans for Responsible Solutions. Caforio supports the Second Amendment, and also supports commonsense gun safety measures that will reduce gun violence, like background checks and closing the terrorist gun loophole.
Congresswoman Giffords and Captain Kelly of Americans for Responsible Solutions released the following joint statement: “Bryan Caforio knows that with freedom comes responsibility, and that we can do more to keep guns out of the wrong hands while protecting the rights of law-abiding Americans. We are proud to support a leader like Bryan Caforio who is committed standing up to the Washington gun lobby and fighting for bipartisan change that will help prevent gun tragedies. In Congress, Bryan will be a champion for the vocal majority of Americans who are calling on their elected leaders to do more to reduce gun violence and make our communities safer.”
Dan Gross, President, Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence released the following statement: “In Bryan Caforio, the voters of California’s 25th Congressional district have found the only U.S. House candidate they can trust to stand up to the corporate gun lobby and disarm the hate that kills thousands of Americans every year by keeping guns out of dangerous hands. While his opponent opposes expanding Brady background checks on all gun sales, Caforio supports the more than ninety percent of Americans who support this life saving measure. For those in California’s 25th Congressional district who have had #ENOUGH of gun violence and want the better, safer state and nation they deserve, there simply is no one better suited for the job.”
Bryan Caforio released the following statement: “I’m honored to stand with the Brady Campaign, Congresswoman Giffords, and Captain Kelly. It’s time our community had a representative who understands that by implementing widely supported solutions we can save countless lives. In Congress, I will fight for commonsense gun safety measures to reduce gun violence, cut down on the senseless killings, and make our communities safer.”
Caforio was born and raised in Southern California by two public school teachers, attended UCLA and Yale Law School, worked for a United States federal judge, and practices as an attorney taking on some of the world’s biggest banks. Bryan lives in Santa Clarita with his wife Lisa, who serves as a Deputy City Attorney at the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office.
The 25th District covers northern Los Angeles County and part of Ventura County including the Antelope Valley, Palmdale, Lancaster, Santa Clarita, and Simi Valley. President Obama won the district in 2008, and experts consider this race a toss-up . Last year Democratic registration eclipsed Republican registration, and the district is now majority-minority. National Republicans list Congressman Knight as one of their most vulnerable incumbents.
