Bryan Caforio Denounces Pence’s Anti-Women Agenda Following Reagan Library Speech
Rep. Steve Knight Tied to Extreme Trump/Pence Agenda
Simi Valley, Calif. – Today Bryan Caforio, Congressional candidate for California’s 25th District, denounced Republican Vice Presidential candidate Mike Pence’s anti-women agenda after his speech at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library. Caforio highlighted that his opponent Rep. Steve Knight’s record aligns with the misogynistic policy positions of the Trump/Pence ticket.
“My parents, both public school teachers, taught me to stand up to bullies. Whether we’re on the schoolyard, or dealing with a Presidential or Vice Presidential candidate, we must stand up and fight for what is right,” said Caforio. “But my opponent Steve Knight won’t stand up to Pence or Trump because he shares the same extreme agenda as they do, especially on women’s access to health care, equal pay, and immigration reform.”
Knight is opposed to a woman’s right to terminate a pregnancy even in the cases of rape, incest, and the life of the mother, voted to defund Planned Parenthood, and even co-sponsored legislation allowing an employer to fire an unmarried woman who becomes pregnant. He has voted to block equal pay legislation, and is comfortable sending mothers away from their children if they are undocumented.
Caforio was joined at the press conference by Shawn Terris, the Chair of the Ventura County Democratic Party and the Chair of the Veterans Caucus of the California Democratic Party.
“Voters, and especially women voters, need to understand how the policies of Trump, Pence, and Knight will negatively impact the future of women in this country,” said Terris. “These men would turn back the clock on all the advances women have fought for over the generations. We need to send a candidate like Bryan Caforio, who will work with and has the support of women legislators, to help create a brighter future for our sisters and daughters.”
Caforio was born and raised in Southern California by two public school teachers, attended UCLA and Yale Law School, worked for a United States federal judge, and practices as an attorney taking on some of the world’s biggest banks. Bryan lives in Santa Clarita with his wife Lisa, who serves as a Deputy City Attorney at the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office.
The 25th District covers northern Los Angeles County and part of Ventura County including the Antelope Valley, Palmdale, Lancaster, Santa Clarita, and Simi Valley. President Obama won the district in 2008, and experts consider this race a toss-up . Last year Democratic registration eclipsed Republican registration, and the district is now majority-minority. National Republicans list Congressman Knight as one of their most
