Caforio Outraises Knight in Just One Month
Steve Knight Raises Just $28,000 From Individuals In Fourth Quarter Fundraising
Valencia, Calif. – Bryan Caforio raised $138,835 in just four weeks in December, ending the year with more than $135,000 cash on hand. Conversely, vulnerable incumbent Steve Knight reported raising only $102,016.00 over the last three months of the year, including barely $28,000 in contributions from individuals. This marked the third quarter in 2015 that Steve Knight failed to raise more than $35,000 from individual donors.
While special interest PAC money, and contributions from the Oil and Gas industry continue to make up the bulk of Knight’s fundraising, the Congressman’s inaction on the Porter Ranch Gas Leak, and votes to protect industry donors, are once again coming into question.
“Steve Knight continues to protect the corporate interests who are bankrolling his campaign,” said Orrin Evans, Caforio’s Campaign Manager. “While the constituents of the 25th District wonder why Steve Knight continues to do nothing in response to the Porter Ranch Gas Leak, his latest fundraising report highlights his votes to protect his financial donors.”
The 25th District covers northern Los Angeles County and part of Ventura County including the Antelope Valley, Palmdale, Lancaster, Santa Clarita, and Simi Valley. The district is a toss-up in a Presidential election year. President Obama won the district in 2008, Mitt Romney barely won it in 2012, last year Democratic registration eclipsed Republican registration for the first time, and district is now majority-minority. National Republicans list Congressman Knight as one of their most vulnerable incumbents.
